LOUISVILLE, Kentucky – JPMorganChase is proud to announce a half-million-dollar investment into Louisville’s workforce. The combined $500,000 philanthropic investment will go to Goodwill Kentucky and Volunteers of America Mid-States to support innovative programs aimed at breaking down barriers to building a skilled workforce over the next two years.
“Louisville’s future depends on a skilled and resilient workforce,” said Duffy Baker, Kentucky and West Virginia Market Leadership Team Chair for JPMorganChase. “As an employer with a more than 170-year history in Louisville, we’re proud to deepen our impact by supporting some of our city’s leading community organizations to help change lives, strengthen families, and build an economy that works for all.”
Goodwill Kentucky: Young Adult Opportunity Center’s Thrive Program
A $250,000 award to Goodwill Kentucky will support the Young Adult Opportunity Center’s Thrive program. This initiative serves young adults ages 16-24 by providing them with essential professional development. The program’s three-module approach—Soft Skills Academy, GoodStart, and RISE—equips participants for careers in healthcare, manufacturing, and skilled trades. Over the next two years, the Thrive program aims to serve 800 young adults.
“We’re very grateful to JPMorganChase for investing $250,000 in our Young Adult Opportunity Center’s Thrive program,” said Goodwill Kentucky President and CEO Amy Luttrell. “By supporting young adults through training, mentorship, and real-world opportunities, we’re helping build a stronger workforce and more equitable futures for all Kentuckians.”
Volunteers of America Mid-States: Louisville Workforce Development Program
Volunteers of America Mid-States will deploy its $250,000 award to launch a workforce development initiative focused on unemployed and underemployed individuals, including those experiencing homelessness or in recovery. The organization will hire a dedicated Career Coach, provide job training, and offer wraparound support such as transportation, work attire, and documentation assistance. Over two years, the program aims to serve 150 individuals.
“This is such a wonderful way to lift up people in this community, and we couldn’t be more grateful,” said Jennifer Hancock, President and CEO of VOA Mid-States. “We all know that a job can provide a lifeline, a purpose, and a future. With this grant, we plan to help even more people overcome barriers to employment and move toward stability, independence, and long-term success.”
This commitment builds on JPMorganChase’s Global Career Readiness Initiative, a $75 million, five-year global effort to expand economic opportunities for young people from underserved communities. Since 2014, JPMorganChase has invested more than $1 million into Louisville’s SummerWorks program, helping equip young people with the skills and experiences needed to compete for and access high-quality careers.
By investing in effective models and trusted community organizations, JPMorganChase is helping Louisville residents access economic mobility, secure quality employment, and contribute to the city’s economic growth.
