After years of struggling with addiction, Anthony made the decision to rebuild his life in 2021 by entering recovery. While in treatment at the Addiction Recovery Center (ARC), he connected with Goodwill Kentucky team members who were providing services on-site.
At the time, Anthony lacked many of the essential skills and resources needed to secure and maintain reliable employment, but with consistent support and guidance, everything began to change.
Through financial literacy training, Anthony built his credit to over 700, was connected with transportation assistance, and recently paid off his car loan. He also established a credit card and continues his relationship with Park Community Credit Union, a co-located partner at our West Louisville Opportunity Center. Now, he is applying for another loan—an opportunity he said he’s never had.
“It’s a blessing what Goodwill does,” he said. “You have to be a special person to work in this field. Every staff member has gone above and beyond to help me with what I need.”
Today, Anthony is a full-time client care navigator with Isaiah House, where he helps others on their own paths to stability. Through Partner Days at the West Louisville Opportunity Center, he gives back by connecting people to resources and meeting them where they are, just as Goodwill once did for him.
“I can’t speak highly enough about the Goodwill Opportunity Center,” Anthony said. “Goodwill can help you with what you need. You just have to be patient.”
For Anthony, this journey has always been about more than progress. It’s about people.
“I just try to be a resource,” he said. “Be a man of my word and tell people, ‘Hey, there’s help out here.’”
