Robert knows what it means to start over. After struggling with substance use and temporarily losing custody of his children, he decided to change his life. In 2024, he entered Mercer County Drug Court and committed himself to recovery.
Over the next two years, Robert worked consistently to turn his life around. He attended 52 individual counseling sessions, 102 group therapy sessions, and 205 Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings. He also served as a chair for several NA meetings and mentored others in recovery. In August, after two years of hard work, Robert successfully graduated from Drug Court. He has now been sober for two and a half years.
Along the way, Goodwill Kentucky became an important part of Robert’s journey. He joined the Lawrenceburg store and took advantage of opportunities through the Work & Learn program. He earned CPR, QPR, Narcan, RFI Construction, Procore, OSHA 10, and WALSH Construction certifications, while continuing to grow in his career.
Robert regained custody of his children, paid off $2,628 in court costs, and became a homeowner. He also earned promotions at Goodwill and now serves as a Material Handler in Lawrenceburg.
Today, Robert is not only rebuilding his own life—he is using his experience to encourage and mentor others who are working toward their own fresh start.
