Goodwill celebrated the opening of its relocated Frankfort store at a ribbon-cutting ceremony today with the Frankfort Chamber of Commerce, City Commissioner and Mayor Pro Tem Katrisha Waldridge and Goodwill Industries of Kentucky President and Chief Executive Officer Amy Luttrell.
Prior to the ribbon cutting, the new store offered a “Story Behind the Store” event to provide civic and business leaders in the Frankfort community the opportunity to visit and speak with Luttrell about Goodwill’s work on poverty, workforce development and education issues.
Donations to Goodwill stay local and help fulfill its mission to support people with disabilities or other disadvantages achieve and maintain employment to gain a better quality of life. In addition to operating 66 retail locations statewide that provide jobs and hands-on training, Goodwill offers employment counseling, adult literacy programs and assistance with job search, preparation and placement.
The newly-constructed 11,200-square-foot donation center features 6,152 square feet dedicated to retail space, with an upgraded in-store experience that is part of the nonprofit’s statewide rebranding project. Customers will find signage designed to connect shoppers with Goodwill’s mission. In addition, the store boasts an open layout, easy-to-navigate departments and murals that depict Goodwill’s long history and community impact.
