LOUISVILLE, KY. – On Thursday September 26th Senate President Robert Stivers (R-Manchester 25) and Senate Minority Leader Gerald Neal (D-Louisville 33) visited the Goodwill Industries of Kentucky West Louisville Opportunity Center to tour the facility and see the impact of the bipartisan investment the Kentucky General Assembly has made in the community. They were joined by representatives from Goodwill including President and CEO Amy Luttrell, Opportunity Center Director Emery Lee, and Maurice Douglas a West Louisville resident and Goodwill volunteer.
“I’ve seen firsthand the revitalization happening in West Louisville, and I’m proud to lead the Kentucky General Assembly in supporting this transformative investment in Goodwill’s West Louisville Opportunity Center,” said Stivers. “This $3 million funding will be a crucial step in completing the project, allowing West Louisville to fully experience the pride and sense of ownership that come from a thriving community. Behind this funding are dedicated individuals who care deeply about seeing West Louisville flourish.”
“The Goodwill West Louisville Opportunity Campus provides vital resources for individuals seeking to improve their lives through education, job training, and essential services.” said Neal. “By funding this center, we’re investing directly in the future of our community, empowering people to break cycles of poverty and build pathways to economic stability.”
“We are thrilled to be joined by two members of our State Senate leadership to show first hand the transformational change their investments have sparked in this community.” said Goodwill President and CEO Amy Luttrell. “From the West Louisville Opportunity Center, to our partners across the parking lot at Norton Hospital, and even across the street with Kroger’s private investment, development in this community has been spurred on by the commitment our General Assembly has made. Together we’re strengthening communities by building pathways out of poverty for Kentuckians who will add to our workforce and give back to those communities.”
