In celebration of National Employ Older Workers Week, our SCSEP has hosted a luncheon and daily zoom meetings with upwards of 500 current and past community leaders, employers and/or workforce development individuals.
Attendees have shared during the meetings the many benefits of the program in their area, including stories of past accomplishments, current activities and future programs in an effort to gain partnerships for a computer loaner program and connectivity within the community.
The plan includes a partner sponsoring a computer in each of the 54 counties served by our SCSEP. They will be placed at community partner agencies, where the participants in that county can access virtual training programs for digital literacy, computer training and certified credentials that support their employment goal.
The agency partners will provide free internet connectivity or host a hot spot for the participants to use. Participants will also have direct access to the Goodwill Works soft skills virtual training and will have the opportunity to check out the computer and complete remote training. Their career coach will help coordinate the usage of the computer per county and set the training course for each participant.
