The OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation and UnitedHealthcare will host a free, two-day vision clinic at the Goodwill West Louisville Opportunity Center for West Louisville residents who may be suffering from uncorrected poor vision and lack of access to eye care. The clinic will be held October 29 and 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Individuals can register here. Walk-ins will be welcome.
Uncorrected poor vision affects one in three individuals around the world. Of those individuals, 90% live in communities where there is limited access to eye care and awareness of vision issues, such as West Louisville, which makes expanding access to eye care a critical initiative.
To combat this, OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation, the leading global vision care foundation, UnitedHealthcare and Goodwill Industries of Kentucky partnered to organize the clinic, which will offer free eye examinations and glasses to up to 300 low-income and uninsured individuals.
The clinic will leverage the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation’s proven clinic model and manufacturing capabilities, enabling most participants in need of glasses to receive their newly prescribed, quality eyewear on-site. UnitedHealthcare professionals will be on-site at the event to conduct comprehensive eye exams, offer guidance on maintaining good eye health and provide next steps.
In addition to being the host site for the clinic, Goodwill will be showcasing its barrier-removal opportunities at the event. The vision of the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation and UnitedHealthcare to remove barriers for those in need of comprehensive eye care aligns with Goodwill’s mission to remove barriers for individuals seeking self-sufficiency and a pathway out of poverty.
