When Michael finished rehab and left sober living, he spent months trying to find a job where he felt comfortable. Originally from Boston, he was unsure where to look—until Goodwill Kentucky gave him a second chance.

“I lucked out on this job,” he said. “It has helped me in many different ways, such as learning to walk with my head up, respecting people again, and reentering society. Because I was out in the madness for a long time.”

Michael has been with the Goodwill Frankfort team for almost two years and said the network of support has made all the difference.

“There are a few in here that have been through the same things I’ve been through,” he said.

Committed to building a better future, Michael is currently working toward his CDL certification, opening doors to new opportunities. Most importantly, he said he finally feels at home.

“I’ve had chances to go to other jobs,” he said. “But when you feel comfortable, you just feel comfortable. This job right here, I feel at home. There’s just good people here.”
