In 2022, when Lindsay was hired as a cashier at Goodwill Kentucky’s Stonewall location in Lexington, she had no idea the path to success she would pave. From day one, her positivity and dedication made her stand out, allowing her to connect with customers and teammates alike, while creating experiences that left everyone feeling valued.
Lindsay faced challenges along the way, including the death of her parents, addiction, and even a serious car accident, but turned them into stepping stones. After transferring to the New Circle store, she was promoted to team lead, then to assistant manager.
“Goodwill has been amazing,” she said. “I’ve relapsed while I’ve been with Goodwill, and they held my job. They welcomed me back with nothing but love. It’s been amazing.”
Lindsay’s commitment to growth led her to the GREAT (Goodwill Retail Employee Advancement Training) Program, where she learned valuable leadership and operational skills. Through the GREAT program, she earned a promotion to assistant manager II. Just weeks after graduating, she was promoted to store manager of the Georgetown location.
Since joining Goodwill, Lindsay has received four promotions—three of them in the past five and a half months. She has been sober for more than a year and now spends most of her time focusing on what matters most: her four children.
Without the support of Goodwill—especially Cathy, her former store manager (pictured on the left), and Hayley, her career coach—she said she wouldn’t be where she is today.
“I’ve been through a lot in my life, but I don’t let it hold me back anymore,” she said. “I just feel like this is where I need to be right now.”
