Goodwill Industries of Kentucky partner Republic Bank & Trust Co. has been named a 2020 Partners in Philanthropy honoree in the Large Company Category by Louisville Business First.
Since Goodwill began its initiative to embrace the justice-involved community in 2018, Republic Bank has been at the forefront of support, in more than one fashion. Republic Bank supported 36 expungement clinics and 25 job fairs, and it had a hand in helping the 2,900-plus individuals that were placed in full-time jobs in 2019.
Presenting at each event, Republic Bank personnel provide program participants with financial literacy classes, budgeting tools and even second-chance bank accounts. Program participants’ backgrounds hardly qualify for a traditional bank account. But Republic Bank has opened upwards of 500 bank accounts for Goodwill program participants. In addition, it matched a portion of participants’ direct deposits if they enrolled.
Republic Bank took its partnership a step further by financially supporting The Art of Goodwill Residency Program in 2019. In total, Republic Bank contributed $2.9 million to nonprofits in 2019, which warranted the honor from Louisville Business First.
