GEORGETOWN, KY. – Today, Goodwill Kentucky marked the opening of its new Georgetown store with a grand opening celebration and ribbon-cutting ceremony. The new store, located at 100 Ashton Grove Path, replaced the old Georgetown location at 1002 Lexington Road. The Lexington Road location closed to shopping and donations yesterday, July 9.

Today’s celebration featured live music, food, giveaways, and remarks from Goodwill Kentucky leadership as well as Eric Del Valle, board president of the Georgetown/Scott County Chamber.

“We’re excited to welcome the Georgetown community to this beautiful new store,” said Amy Luttrell, Goodwill Kentucky president and CEO. “This new location reflects our continued commitment to creating a better shopping and donation experience while expanding our mission impact. Every donation and every purchase helps fund opportunities that help Kentuckians find pathways out of poverty.”

Remarks were also shared by Chad Walls, a team lead at the Georgetown store whose journey reflects the life-changing impact of Goodwill Kentucky’s mission. After connecting with Goodwill Kentucky, Walls completed job training, secured employment, earned a promotion, and is now preparing to take the next step in rebuilding his future by expunging his record.

“Because of Goodwill, I’m able to stay on the straight and narrow,” Walls said. “This October marks five years without getting in trouble, so I can finally get my record expunged next year. I’m really excited about that.”

Walls’ story is one example of the impact made possible through Goodwill Kentucky’s retail stores. The nonprofit operates 70 locations across the state, and 90 cents of every dollar generated through its retail operations is reinvested in job training, education, reentry services, and other support programs delivered at its 12 Opportunity Centers that help Kentuckians achieve long-term success. The relocated Georgetown store represents Goodwill Kentucky’s continued investment in the community while advancing its mission of helping Kentuckians find pathways out of poverty.
