LOUISVILLE, KY. – Goodwill Industries of Kentucky has appointed Angie Travis as the Director of Career Services for its East Region, which includes Somerset, Pikeville and Corbin.
As a Director of Career Services, Travis will oversee career services operations at Goodwill’s Opportunity Centers in Somerset, Pikeville and Corbin. The nonprofit’s Opportunity Centers are welcoming locations that offer a convenient mix of free career services operated by Goodwill and additional resources provided by partner organizations.
“It is an honor to combine my passion for serving others with my love for empowering adults to pursue a new career path, chase dreams and embrace new beginnings with the support, tools and inspiration needed to transform hope into a reality, no matter the stage of life,” said Travis.
Prior to joining Goodwill, Travis served as the Executive Director of the Noe Education Center at Campbellsville University since May 2017. She brings with her more than 22 years of experience in education, specifically with the Campbellsville Independent School System. Her K-12 roles included kindergarten and multi-age (2nd and 3rd grade) teaching, as well as positions as Gifted and Talented Program Coordinator, English as a Second Language Coordinator and College and Career Readiness Counselor at the high school level.
Travis holds bachelor’s and two master’s degrees from Campbellsville University and recently earned her PhD in Leadership with an emphasis in Education from the University of the Cumberlands. In December 2023, she published her dissertation, “The Adult Learner: A Study of Influence of Motivators and Barriers.”
In addition to her professional responsibilities, Travis serves as the Director of KidsCreek at The Creek Church Somerset. She has taught for Campbellsville University’s Graduate School of Education, sharing her passion for education with aspiring teachers. As a member of the Somerset/Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce Board, Travis is dedicated to supporting local business growth and community success. In addition to her role on the Chamber Board, she serves as co-chairperson of the Christmas Parade and co-creator of the Future Leaders of Lake Cumberland Program, which provides leadership development opportunities for high school students in the Somerset/Pulaski County area.
