Goodwill Industries of Kentucky’s Reintegrating Individuals Successfully Every Day (RISE) program is a paid job-readiness training that paves the way back to employment for individuals with a criminal history.
The program features assistance with consumer literacy, health and nutritional literacy, digital and financial literacy as well as communication skills, mock interviewing, resume-writing, job searching and more. It culminates in the awarding of Work Ready Certificates, which help participants reintegrate from incarceration back into employment. It also allows participants a chance to earn a Chromebook, a gym membership and a stipend upon graduating.
Since its inception, the program has only been offered in Louisville. However, Goodwill has partnered with Molina Healthcare to bring those services to Lexington. The partnership allows Goodwill to expand its program reach while putting an emphasis on removing individuals from Medicaid and placing them into private, employer-based plans, which is Molina’s focus.
Director of Reentry Services Dennis Ritchie discussed the extent of the partnership and the expanding RISE services on a recent WTVQ Good Day Kentucky segment, available for viewing below:
