LOUISVILLE, KY. – Goodwill Kentucky is proud to announce Cornbread Hemp as a sponsor for its upcoming expungement clinic, to be held at the Goodwill West Louisville Opportunity Center at 2820 W. Broadway on Tuesday, May 13, from 10 a.m. to noon.
This community-focused event will help clear the criminal records of at least 50 individuals, giving them a real second chance at employment, housing, and dignity.
“Cornbread Hemp believes that no one should be defined by their worst mistake for the rest of their life,” said Eric Zipperle, co-founder and CEO of Cornbread Hemp. “We’re honored to stand alongside Goodwill Kentucky to help remove the barriers that keep people from being productive members of society.”
The expungement clinic is part of Cornbread Hemp’s ongoing commitment to restorative justice, community investment, and a new vision for cannabis policy in Kentucky. This clinic has been made possible by legislation passed by the late Rep. Darryl Owens, who represented Louisville in the Kentucky General Assembly from 2005 to 2019.
“This initiative reflects our belief that success in the hemp industry comes with accountability for the harms of prohibition, especially in historically underserved neighborhoods like Louisville’s West End,” said Cornbread Hemp co-founder Jim Higdon.
Goodwill Kentucky’s legal partners and staff will provide on-site support, guiding participants through the process of clearing eligible charges from their records, all at no cost to attendees. Community members are encouraged to register in advance and bring relevant documentation for review.
“For individuals trying to reenter the workforce, a record presents an unnecessary barrier to advancing in their careers, and less than 10% of those who would be eligible ever obtain an expungement,” said Dennis Ritchie, vice president of reentry and strategic partnerships for Goodwill Kentucky. “The process for expungement can be expensive and complicated, and we are grateful to Cornbread Hemp for helping us provide this critical support for Louisville residents looking to rebuild their lives.”
