BOWLING GREEN, KY. – Chad Spencer, regional director of career services at Goodwill Kentucky, has completed the Kentucky Chamber’s Fellowship for Civic Leadership, a statewide program that empowers business leaders, aspiring public officials, and civic-minded individuals to make a meaningful impact in their communities.
The Kentucky Chamber launched the Fellowship for Civic Leadership in 2024 to strengthen civic engagement across the Commonwealth by preparing business leaders, aspiring public officials, and civic-minded individuals who are passionate about free enterprise to pursue public service and elected office.
Through the program, participants learned directly from elected officials, campaign professionals, and policy experts about the realities of running for office and serving in public leadership roles. Sessions covered Kentucky’s political landscape, campaign strategy, fundraising, voter outreach, media relations, campaign finance laws, and effective communication on public policy issues.
“The Fellowship for Civic Leadership was an invaluable experience that gave me a clearer understanding of what it takes to serve effectively, whether in elected office or through community leadership,” said Spencer. “It connected me with experienced leaders from across Kentucky, provided practical tools I can use to make a positive impact, and inspired me to be more engaged in shaping the future of my community.”
The program’s fellows represent diverse industries and regions but share a common goal: strengthening Kentucky through principled leadership and a commitment to service rooted in the values of free enterprise.
“Kentucky’s future depends on strong leaders who are willing to step forward, engage in their communities, and help solve the challenges facing our Commonwealth,” said Kentucky Chamber Senior Vice President of Public Affairs Kate Shanks. “The Fellowship for Civic Leadership was created to encourage more people to see public service as a meaningful way to advance their communities and our state.”
