ANOTHER WAY
Goodwill Industries of Kentucky launched the Another Way program to help reduce panhandling and provide individuals at stoplights and other rights-of-way with a better method of receiving support. This initiative aims to fill the gap in the labor market by offering those in visible need the chance to develop job skills and engage in work-based learning opportunities. The program operates in Louisville and Bowling Green.
The Another Way team canvasses heavily trafficked areas where panhandling is common and offers individuals the opportunity to work for a compensation of $50 per day. Throughout this process, the team focuses on building relationships as workers and staff collaborate and share lunch together. Participants then return to Goodwill Opportunity Centers, where they can connect with resources designed to help address various barriers they may face.
