Goodwill Industries of Kentucky Director of Community-Based Career Services Kimberly Boyd-Lane was featured on a recent virtual interview series organized by community partner Russell: A Place of Promise.
Boyd-Lane joined Dana Johnson, project manager, and Elliott Kelly, Jr., a Summer Works participant and University of Louisville student, on a zoom call via Facebook Live that highlighted Goodwill’s partnership with Russell: A Place of Promise, a justice-based initiative focused on generating investments – nearly $1 billion in planned and ongoing projects – for the special people and places in Louisville’s Russell neighborhood.
“One thing I would like the residents (of Russell) to know: That Goodwill Industries of Kentucky, we’re here to walk alongside you. It’s a no-judgement zone. … We’re here to equip you with the tools necessary to reach your goals, not ours – but your goals, one day at a time, one step at a time.”
In addition to the community partnership, Boyd-Lane discussed her background and role with Goodwill, the nonprofit’s many workforce development programs as well as the challenges her program participants face on a day-to-day basis.
