LOUISVILLE, KY. – Goodwill Industries of Kentucky will host a grand opening event for its new Somerset Superstore and Opportunity Center on Monday, November 11, at 1 p.m. The Superstore and Opportunity Center are located at 2305 S. Highway 27, Somerset, KY 42503.
The Superstore is a combination of Goodwill’s Somerset and Burnside locations and features the largest sales floor in the commonwealth, a new Point of Sale (POS) system, which will make the transaction process even easier for customers, and a donation center. The new location had a soft opening on October 14 and was warmly received by the Somerset community.
Goodwill executives, including President and CEO Amy Luttrell, will be joined by Somerset Mayor Alan Keck, Somerset-Pulaski Economic Development Authority (SPEDA) President and CEO Mark Girdler and a Goodwill mission speaker as it cuts the ribbon on the new location on Monday. Following the speaking portion at 1 p.m., Goodwill will offer tours of the Superstore and Opportunity Center.
“The Somerset community has been a strong supporter of our mission here at Goodwill for a long time,” said Goodwill Vice President of Retail Operations Mark Daniel. “We’re very excited to officially cut the ribbon on this new location, which will provide our supporters with an enhanced shopping experience and continue to advance our mission of serving those in need. We are incredibly grateful to the Somerset community for helping make this new initiative a reality.”
The new Opportunity Center, located next to the Superstore, offers a friendly environment where individuals can access free career services provided by Goodwill. Additionally, it features resources from various partner organizations to further support job seekers.
Services at the Opportunity Center include but are not limited to career coaching, employment-readiness training and certifications, financial and budgeting support, digital literacy training and legal and expungement services. Each year, Goodwill positively affects more than 20,000 individuals with its programs and services.
The Superstore is open every day from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Opportunity Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information about the new location and the services provided through Goodwill, visit GoodwillKY.org.
